During my freshman year of college, I came to a startling realization: I didn’t really know how to study effectively. Social media was full of influencers showing off beautifully organized notes and hours-long study sessions, but no matter how much I tried to replicate those methods, they just didn’t work for me.
The truth is, there’s a lot more to studying than reading textbooks or copying lecture notes. Studying is an art—it’s a skill you have to develop, much like learning the subject itself. In college, I also began to fully grasp the impact of ADHD, a diagnosis I received during my freshman year of high school. ADHD isn’t just about having trouble concentrating. It affects memory recall, executive function, emotional regulation, and much more. Navigating college with ADHD and a growing list of responsibilities forced me to rethink my approach. I realized that developing effective study strategies and learning how to learn not only helped me retain information longer, but it also transformed my entire college experience. It became more than just completing assignments or chasing grades—it was about truly understanding and growing as a learner.
The topics I explore in this blog aren’t just for college students or those in traditional education. These strategies can help anyone in any learning environment. Whether you’re a lifelong learner, a professional trying to retain new skills, or someone simply interested in mastering effective study techniques, this space is for you.
I hope you enjoy my corner of the internet as much as I do.
